Backpacking

Backpacking through Europe was one of the greatest adventures of my life. Both Anna (pictured) and I learned things about each other (and ourselves) that we never knew (until we missed trains, biked 13 miles around Tuscany, etc.)

Of our five destinations in Europe,
Interlaken, Switzerland was the most audacious of them all. In one day, we went canyoning (cliff jumping, repelling, etc.) and rafting in FREEZING water. Our day began at 7 AM (after staying out way too late), with a hike to the top of a waterfall, in what felt like 50 lb. equipment. Despite feelings of nauseousness, they all disappeared on our first jump into foaming, rocky, glacier water.

Needless to say, our time in Interlaken was well-spent- and if you're looking for an outdoor adventure, this is the spot. We had the best time with our guides from Alpin Raft. If you're ever in the area, go to them for a risky venture.

  1. I studied abroad during the summer of 07 and ventured to Inkerlaken for a few days. It was AMAZING. It is a gorgeous place with plenty of adventurous activities to participate in. I also stayed at Balmers, in a bedroom w/ 32 other people...what an experience! Lets just say we slept with our passports..Balmers is neat b.c it also has a bar in the basement that everyone goes to after 10:00pm. GOOD TIMES...

I will have to post pictures of us canyoning. Funny stuff.
